The Doctor

Dr. Nicholas Loan, D.C.

Doctor of Chiropractic

The office at 335 Elm Street started out over 65 years ago with Dr. Harper. Our current patients are newborn to 100 years young and most of them are choosing ongoing chiropractic care.

Dr. Loan came to Penn Yan in 1986 and has been practicing here ever since. He graduated from New York Chiropractic College after completing a B.A. and M.S. in chemistry from SUNY at Oswego. He fell in love with the Finger Lakes area and moved here, to the most beautiful part of the world, with his wife, Monique, to take over Dr. John Tusch’s practice when he retired.

Dr. Loan is committed to continuing education; he has completed over 1000 hours of post-graduate studies in various chiropractic topics such as orthopedics, sports injuries, Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique (BEST) and additional techniques in patient care. He is a member of the International Chiropractic Association and the New York Chiropractic Council and is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician.

Dr. Loan is active in the community as well – he spent 8 years on the Board of Directors for the Arc of Yates and 3 years on the state Board of Governors for the Arc. He is a member of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the local and state chapters of the Izaak Walton League of America. Most important, he is an active parent of his daughters, Nina and Carol.

Dr. Loan first became interested in chiropractic during his study of chemistry. He observed how the medical world functions in the treatment of allergies and how the trial-and-error system seemed so far from “medical science”. Further chemical studies made him aware of the fact that there are no medications free from side effects. He also realized that medical policy is driven by the large drug companies and their profits, not by the doctors who treat people. Most of our doctors are not aware of how dangerous the tools (drugs and surgery) they use really are.

There is a growing awareness in the public, as well as in the medical research community, that drugs do not keep a person healthy. The many influences around us, such as the air we breathe, our diets, exercise habits, predominate thoughts, even the way we sit and spend most of our time have a large effect on how well our bodies work and how long they work well. The way we spend most of our lives has changed drastically from the way our great-grandparents did. New toxic materials are almost impossible to avoid in our food, air and water. We now see a majority of our Olympic athletes (and their families) getting regular Chiropractic care, not for pain relief, but for keeping the body as free as possible for nerve interferences (subluxations) to achieve their highest potential!! They understand that nobody can do their best with subluxations dragging them down. They also understand the devastating effects of chronic subluxation on the human spirit and overall health. Even alcohol and drug addicts find the addition of chiropractic care allows them to get clean and stay clean with tremendously better results. Our bodies just work better and more efficiently when the nerves are clear, with as little interference as possible.

We care enough in this office to keep up with new advances, such as the Heart Rate Variability, surface EMG and thermal scanning equipment to monitor the function of our spinal nerves that control our muscles, glands and organs, and how adaptable we are to respond to good and bad stresses in our daily lives.

Please ask us if you have any questions – there is no such thing as a wrong question! Besides, our goal is to bring you, the patient, the highest quality spinal care available anywhere.
